Role Description The Bartender role at Dogwoods Kitchen & Bar is a full-time, on-site position based in Pontiac, MI. The bartender is responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, following recipes and house standards while ensuring responsible service. Day-to-day tasks include greeting guests, taking drink and food orders, preparing cocktails and other beverages, handling payments, and maintaining a clean and organized bar area. The bartender will also restock supplies, check identification, adhere to safety and sanitation guidelines, and collaborate with servers and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service. This role requires consistent, friendly interaction with guests and the ability to manage busy periods while maintaining accuracy and composure.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service skills, with a focus on creating positive and welcoming guest experiences.
• Effective communication skills, including clear verbal interaction with guests and teamwork with colleagues.
• Food & beverage knowledge, including basic cocktail recipes, beer and wine familiarity, and safe serving practices.
• Cash handling skills, including accurate processing of payments, making change, and balancing a cash drawer.
• Bartending skills, including drink preparation, bar setup and breakdown, and adherence to responsible serving laws.
• Previous experience in a bar or restaurant setting preferred; formal bartending training or certification is a plus.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry supplies, and work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Commitment to hygiene and safety standards, including compliance with local alcohol regulations and health codes.
