Job description

  • Role: OLS Analyst/Optical Engineer (L4)
  • Location: Columbus OH, Portland OR (100% Onsite)
  • Duration: Long-term Contract

Key Focus Areas for Vendors

  • Strong Optical Networking Expertise (Must-have)
  • Candidate has deep hands-on experience in DWDM, OTN, SONET, ROADM, and real-world deployments across large telecom and data center environments.
  • Ciena Ecosystem Experience (Highly Preferred)
  • Proven work on Ciena 6500 (Preferred), Waveserver, and packet platforms, including design, deployment, provisioning, and troubleshooting — aligns directly with L4 expectations.
  • End-to-End Deployment & Provisioning
  • Experience in circuit build, commissioning, MOP execution, and test validation, which is critical for field execution roles.
  • Integration, Migration & Decommissioning
  • Strong background in network transformation projects, including migrations from legacy (SONET/TDM) to modern architectures.
  • Advanced Troubleshooting & Tier 3 Support
  • Hands-on exposure to complex outage handling, root cause analysis, and escalation, supporting high-impact production networks.
  • Documentation & Process Adherence
  • Extensive experience creating SOW, BOM, MOPs, test plans, and engineering documents — aligns with deployment documentation requirements.
  • AWS (Nice to Have but Valuable)
  • Prior work with AWS data center interconnects and cloud environments, indicating ability to adapt to AWS-based workflows.

Mentorship & Field Coordination

Experience supporting field teams, NOC, and cross-functional stakeholders, important for L4-level ownership
