LENAX is looking for a Junior Cost estimator to support the LENAX Corporate Estimating Team.  The Junior Estimator will touch all aspects of our work - estimating costs associated with small to multi-multi-billion-dollar projects, across multiple business sectors (aviation, rail, highways, bridges, ports, public works, schools and other vertical construction, and etc.).

Specifically, our Junior Cost Estimator will provide detailed cost estimates from conceptual design through bid phase of design on a variety of projects, with a focus on rail projects involving all trades including civil, structural, architectural, process mechanical, HVAC, and electrical work.

JOB DUTIES:

• Prepare and review cost estimates for projects at various levels of design completion.
• Prepare labor rates and equipment rates.
• Prepare quantity surveys on projects at various levels of design completion.
• Procure pricing from vendors and manufacturers on proprietary equipment.
• Review and interpret project documents including drawings, specifications, and contract language.
• Prepare change order estimates.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

• Minimum 2 - 5 years' technical or field experience-preferably "in the field," supporting a construction contractor (cost estimating or construction-related experience)-level will be determined based upon applicable skills and experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related, technical field.
• Transportation sector experience or knowledge of linear projects (highways).
• Must have demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office computer applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Experience with On-screen Takeoff software like Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff or Planswift.
• Must have experience with large-scale estimating software such as Timberline, HCSS.
• This position will be based out of the Los Angeles offices of Lenax Construction Services, Inc. The individual selected for the position must be able to report to the worksite on a daily basis--especially during the initial training period.  A hybrid schedule may be afforded after the individual demonstrates sufficient capability to perform the essential duties of the job.  Even if a hybrid situation is offered, the individual must be able to report to the worksite on an as-needed basis.  
• Candidates may be required to work later schedules, initially, that go into the evening, when trainers are available.

POSITION INFORMATION:

This is a full-time, regular position at Lenax Construction Services, Inc. 's corporate offices, in Los Angeles, CA. (exemption status will depend upon qualifications).  Salary range for this position is $20 - $35 per hour, depending upon qualifications.
