We are looking for an experienced, dependable Lead Dog Trainer who wants to keep developing as a trainer while stepping into a larger leadership role.
Why Dawgs at Work?
Dawgs at Work provides individualized dog training, in-home and off-site lessons, board-and-train programs, therapy dog development, service dog training, and other specialized programs.
As we continue to grow, this position offers the opportunity to grow with us — expanding your training experience, developing leadership and facility-management skills, and becoming an important part of the future of Dawgs at Work.
You’ll work closely with our Master Trainer, train dogs with a wide range of needs, educate clients, and gradually take on greater responsibility within our training facility and programs.
What You’ll Do
Provide hands-on training for dogs of different breeds, ages, sizes, and temperaments
Lead client lessons, including in-home and off-site training
Support board-and-train, therapy dog, service dog, and specialized training programs
Help maintain a clean, safe, professional training environment
Assist with daily facility operations and leadership responsibilities
Follow Dawgs at Work training standards while continuing to grow your skills
What We’re Looking For
Required:
Professional dog-training education or credentials from a recognized training academy or comparable professional program
At least 2 years of professional experience working with dogs in training, veterinary care, boarding/daycare, grooming, shelter/rescue, or a similar environment
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Comfortable safely handling dogs of all sizes and training levels
Able to lift at least 50 lbs. and work indoors and outdoors in varying weather
Available for some evenings, weekends, off-site training, and in-home lessons
Dependable, organized, professional, and confident communicating with clients
Willingness to learn, accept coaching, and continue developing professionally
Recognized training programs may include Animal Behavior College, Starmark Academy, Highland Canine, Tarheel Canine, National K-9 Learning Center, Top Tier K9, Tom Rose School, or similar professional programs.
Even Better If You Have Experience or Certifications in Areas Such as:
Therapy or service dog training
Behavior modification
AKC evaluator or instructor credentials
Pet CPR and First Aid
Canine massage or related specialties
We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, genuinely cares about the dogs entrusted to them, and understands that great training requires patience, consistency, communication, and reliability.
Interested? Apply with your resume, professional training credentials, and relevant canine experience.
