SUMMARY
The Maintenance Assistant at NWI Defense, Albany, OR will performs routine and light preventive maintenance, janitorial duties, supports production amp; shipping as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES amp; ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following:
- Primary responsibility is to assist the and Facilities/Maintenance Team in maintenance amp; facilities work.
- Supporting production needs is the highest priority and may require extended hours, adjusted shifts or required overtime to ensure we meet our customer commitments.
- Assists in maintaining a weekly walk-thru list noting all facility supply needs and completes required checklists.
- Notifies management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
- Maintains building and grounds by performing routine minor painting, plumbing, electrical, and other preventive maintenance.
- Performs a variety of carpentry functions.
- Minor maintenance for forging presses amp; furnaces.
- Weekly or monthly preventive maintenance on production equipment.
- Material Handling: Assist with scrap recovery activities.
- Occasional use of Forklift.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains safe operations by keeping work area clean and organized and by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintains equipment by completing basic preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions.
- Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Documents actions by completing required paperwork etc.
- Participate in required meetings amp; trainings.
- Able to cross train into other departments as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent
- General experience in maintenance activities
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Required: Valid Driver’s License
- Forklift Certificate (will train in-house)
