Position Overview: Junior Estimator


Location:Maspeth, NYType:Full-Time, On-Site


As a Junior Estimator, you will play a vital role in supporting our estimating team. This position entails a hands-on approach to reviewing drawings and specifications, conducting accurate quantity takeoffs, and assisting in the preparation of precise cost estimates for our sheet metal projects.


Key Responsibilities

-Document Management:Gather and organize bid documents, ensuring all relevant information is readily accessible.

-Vendor Coordination:Request, track, and analyze quotes from vendors and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.

-Database Maintenance:Keep estimating databases and records up-to-date to support accurate bid preparation.

-Collaboration:Work closely with project managers and senior estimators to clarify project scope, verify material requirements, and assist in the preparation of bid proposals and change orders.

-Site Visits:Conduct occasional site visits to understand field conditions and enhance project accuracy.

-Internal Meetings: Participate in internal review meetings to align on best practices and company standards for estimating and documentation.


Qualifications

- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail in measurements, quantities, and cost calculations.

- Basic understanding of construction or mechanical trades; familiarity with sheet metal, HVAC, or related building systems is advantageous.

- Proficient in office productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Word) with a willingness to learn estimating software and digital takeoff tools.

- Ability to read and interpret architectural and mechanical plans, drawings, and specifications.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams, vendors, and subcontractors.

- Strong organizational and time-management abilities, capable of handling multiple bids and tight deadlines.

- High level of reliability, professionalism, and commitment to safety and company policies in an on-site environment.

- An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

- A genuine interest in developing a long-term career in estimating and construction, with an openness to training and mentorship.
