Job description

Elementary Special Education Teacher


Glenwood, IL | 2026-2027 School Year

Cross Country Education is seeking dedicated Special Education Teachers to join a supportive school district in Glenwood, Illinois for the 2026-2027 school year. We have multiple elementary openings available, including K-4 Resource and K-2 Self-Contained classrooms. This is an excellent opportunity to make a lasting impact while collaborating with a team committed to student success.


Position Details

  • Location: Glenwood, IL
  • School Year: August 18, 2026 – June 4, 2027
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week
  • Compensation: $48-$53+/hour on a W-2, paid weekly


Openings:

  • K-4 Resource Teacher
  • K-2 Self-Contained Teacher



Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction to students with diverse learning needs in either a resource or self-contained classroom
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Differentiate instruction to meet students' academic, behavioral, and functional goals
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families
  • Maintain accurate documentation, progress reports, and compliance with state and federal special education requirements
  • Foster an inclusive, structured, and positive learning environment
  • Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and professional development activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an LBS1 endorsement or appropriate Special Education credential
  • Previous elementary special education experience preferred
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of students
