Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM

Reports To: Master Carpenter

Pay: Based on experience

Position Summary

The Journeyman Painter is a skilled professional who delivers high-quality painting and finishing work with minimal supervision. This role requires strong attention to detail, efficient work habits, and the ability to anticipate project needs. Journeyman Painters are expected to be proficient in all apprentice and journeyman-level painting skills and maintain the tools needed to perform their work.

Key ResponsibilitiesPainting & Finishing Skills
  • Complete cabinet painting and finishing projects from start to finish.
  • Identify and use the correct colors, coatings, materials, and application methods.
  • Perform wood finishing and refinishing, with knowledge of wood species and characteristics.
  • Prepare interior and exterior surfaces properly before painting or finishing.
  • Apply stains, clear coats, and other finishing products as needed.
  • Perform touch-up work both on-site and in the paint shop.
  • Provide guidance and answer questions for less experienced painters.
  • Identify potential safety concerns and take action to resolve them.
Tools & Equipment
  • Maintain and properly care for painting equipment and supplies.
  • Provide and maintain all required painter tools.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Regularly stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and use hands for detailed work.
  • Lift and carry 50+ pounds, with or without assistance.
  • Work in indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to weather, noise, fumes, and moving equipment.
  • Adapt to changing projects, locations, and company processes as the business grows.

  • Review and update assigned tasks in JobTread.
  • Complete work within budgeted labor hours.
  • Enter daily job site updates, including completed work and photos when available.
  • Submit material lists to the Project Manager when needed.
