Courthouse News Service, a California-based news service, is seeking a reporter to cover courts in the northern region of Virginia near the Shenandoah valley. A legal background is not required, but a demonstrated interest and ability in writing is necessary.
The job will entail driving to several courts, including courts in Frederick, Shenandoah and Culpepper Counties, to review and summarize new civil complaints.
The reporter must have a car.
Competitive pay is offered for about 30 hours per week. Some benefits are available, including mileage reimbursement and health, dental and vision plans.
The reporter will also have the opportunity to pitch and write news stories for our news website. Feature stories based on interesting local news and happenings not necessarily involving legal issues are also welcome.
