About Cosmic Fischer

Cosmic Fischer (CFLocks.com) is a New York City commercial door security integrator with roots dating back to 1968. We specialize in mechanical and electronic door hardware, access control, and low-voltage security systems for commercial buildings throughout New York City.   As the company grows, we are investing in our operational foundation, and this role is the first hire in that effort.

The Opportunity

We are hiring a Project Operations Manager to serve as the critical link between technical sales and the field. This person takes a sold project and turns it into an engineered, scheduled, fully kitted installation ready for execution by our technicians.

The roles owns the sale through installation process, end-to-end: sourcing and specifying the right products, understanding the engineering approach of each project, building the installation schedule, preparing systems and materials, and acting as the primary point of contact for the field team. It also carries the responsibility of keeping leadership informed on operational performance, risks, and issues.

This is a hands-on, high-trust position reporting directly to the CEO. The role is ideal for a professional seeking to build a genuine operational function within a growing company – someone who will not merely execute tasks, but assume ownership of a core segment of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary liaison between technical sales and installation, client success, translating sold projects into executable, engineered work orders
  • Manage materials procurement, including the specification, sourcing, and ordering of door hardware, access control components, and low-voltage materials for each project
  • Prepare and stage systems and hardware for technicians in advance of installation
  • Develop and manage installation schedules, coordinating technician availability against project timelines
  • Maintain regular communication with field technicians, including assigning work, addressing technical questions, and resolving issues encountered on-site
  • Coordinate NYC building requirements that affect execution, including certificates of insurance, building and freight elevator access, and after-hours work approvals
  • Maintain visibility into project status across the pipeline and proactively flag risks or delays before they affect clients
  • Travel locally (NYC 5 boroughs) on an occasional basis to job sites to assess scope, verify site conditions, and/or support technicians directly
  • Support the ongoing development and refinement of internal processes related to scheduling, procurement, and project handoff as the company scales

How Success Is Measured

This role is measured on outcomes, not activity. In the first year, success looks like:

  • On-time installation completion against committed dates
  • Material accuracy: the right parts on-site the first time
  • Reduced return trips and rework
  • Shorter cycle time from sale to installation

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of field or operations experience in low-voltage systems, door hardware, or security integration, with a demonstrated understanding of how systems get installed in practice, not just how they are specified on paper
  • Comfortable managing 8 to 15 concurrent projects, with the schedules, vendors, and field coordination that come with them
  • Working knowledge of access control systems, electronic and mechanical door hardware, and related low-voltage systems (readers, maglocks, power supplies, foundational wiring principles, etc.)
  • Experience executing commercial installations in NYC buildings, including certificates of insurance, building access and freight elevator coordination, and after-hours work requirements
  • Strong product and vendor knowledge, with the ability to source materials, evaluate components, and avoid costly procurement errors
  • Experience working in a field service management or project scheduling platform, and comfort helping implement and improve systems as the company modernizes
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly with field technicians. Proficiency in Spanish is preferred, not required.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple active projects, schedules, and vendor relationships concurrently
  • A proactive, self-directed professional who takes ownership of responsibilities without requiring close supervision
  • A valid driver's license is required for occasional local site travel

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary of $100,000 to $120,000, commensurate with experience
  • Performance bonus of up to 15% of base, tied to the success measures above
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • (10) days paid time off plus paid holidays
  • 401(k)
  • Company phone and vehicle allowance or company vehicle for site travel
