Description:

Class A CDL Driver – Truss & Building Components Delivery

Cornerstone Truss & Components | Rhode Island
Full-Time | Monday–Friday | Local & Regional Deliveries | Home Nightly
Competitive Pay Based on Experience

Ready to put your Class A experience to work without spending your nights on the road?

Cornerstone Truss & Components is looking for an experienced Class A CDL Driver to deliver roof and floor trusses to residential and commercial job sites throughout the region.

This is a hands-on driving position using roll-off style trailers and specialized unloading equipment. You'll be responsible for safely securing, transporting, and unloading truss packages while working directly with builders, contractors, site crews, and our plant team.

Our loads frequently exceed standard legal dimensions, so oversize and overwidth load experience is a strong plus.

What You'll Do

  • Operate a Class A tractor with a roll-off trailer to deliver roof and floor trusses to residential and commercial job sites.
  • Safely load, secure, strap, and prepare truss packages for transportation, ensuring proper blocking and load distribution.
  • Safely transport oversize and overwidth loads when required.
  • Operate hydraulic roll-off equipment to unload trusses at job sites, including sites with tight access or uneven terrain.
  • Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in accordance with DOT regulations.
  • Coordinate delivery timing with dispatch, site supervisors, customers, and contractors.
  • Maintain accurate delivery logs, bills of lading, and hours-of-service records.
  • Communicate site access issues, delivery delays, product concerns, or other problems back to the plant.
  • Perform basic trailer and equipment maintenance checks and promptly report mechanical concerns.
  • Represent Cornerstone professionally when interacting with customers, builders, and job site personnel.
Requirements:

What We're Looking For

  • Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
  • Experience operating roll-off or flatbed-style trailers.
  • Ability to safely operate hydraulic roll-off and unloading equipment.
  • Strong understanding of DOT safety and hours-of-service regulations.
  • Comfortable navigating active construction sites, including unpaved, tight, or uneven terrain.
  • Ability to safely handle strapping, tarping, and manual material handling as needed.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
  • Dependable, punctual, safety-conscious, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Experience

  • Truss, lumber, building materials, or construction delivery experience.
  • Experience hauling oversize or overwidth loads, including familiarity with state permitting requirements, route restrictions, escort or pilot car procedures, and required signage, flags, and lighting.
  • Experience reading delivery tickets or production orders associated with truss packages.
  • Experience working directly with builders, contractors, or construction site coordinators.

Schedule

  • Full-time position.
  • Monday through Friday.
  • Early morning start times.
  • Consistent local and regional routes.
  • Home nightly.
  • Schedule may vary based on delivery and production needs.

Why Join Cornerstone?

  • Competitive pay based on experience.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance options for eligible full-time employees.
  • Paid vacation, sick time, and holidays in accordance with company policy.
  • 401(k) retirement plan for eligible employees.
  • Consistent local and regional work with no overnight routes.
  • Modern equipment and support from an experienced plant and operations team.
  • Stable, full-time opportunity with a growing building components operation.
