Position Overview

Cornerstone Detention is seeking an experienced Lead Security Controls Technician to install and troubleshoot electronic door control systems in occupied State correctional facilities throughout the Southeast United States. These systems are typically PLC-controlled or relay-based detention door control systems. This is a hands-on field position requiring strong low-voltage troubleshooting skills, the ability to read prints, and the ability to lead a small crew while coordinating with the General Contractor, subcontractors, and the customer.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Install and terminate PLC-based detention door control systems
Install and wire electronic locking hardware (110VAC constant feed locks)
Install and test 24VDC door position sensors
Wire and troubleshoot analog graphics panels (N/O and N/C switches tied to PLC inputs)
Identify faults in relay logic including Form C relay operation
Pull, terminate, and test low-voltage and control wiring
Diagnose voltage, continuity, and control circuit issues using a multimeter
Lead a small installation crew and coordinate work with the project team
Coordinate with programming division during system commissioning

Additional Expectations

  • This is a working lead technician position, not a helper position
Must be able to read prints and work without constant supervision
Must be comfortable troubleshooting low-voltage control circuits independently
Must be comfortable working in correctional facilities and following facility security procedures
Must be able to coordinate work with General Contractors, subcontractors, and the customer

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of low-voltage installation and troubleshooting experience
Strong understanding of basic electrical theory and low-voltage control systems
Highly proficient using a multimeter for troubleshooting voltage and control circuits
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and construction drawings
Experience with access control, CCTV, fence detection, or related security systems is a strong plus
    Must pass criminal background check
Must pass drug screening (random testing required)
