The Job

The Data Center Technician willmonitorand manage power, cooling capacity, and environmental conditions in the data center.Act asafirst responder to incidentsthat arise withinthe data center envelope.This position will manage workflow for planned and unplanned data center work to ensuretimelycompletion and ensureprocesses adhere to federal and local safety laws and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the daily operation of the data center from a service delivery perspective.

  • Utilize,understand,and evaluatedata received from theComputerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)and BuildingMonitoring System (BMS)tomonitorinfrastructure healthandtheeffectiveness ofplannedand unplannedmaintenance.

  • Coordinatethe preventive maintenance of data center electrical and mechanical equipment and manage communication of such activitieswith internal and customer stakeholders.

  • Assistwith the development, revision, and execution of operating procedures and preventive maintenance inspections and perform quality control reviews to ensure accuracy, clarity, and continual improvement.

  • Resolve all electrical and mechanical issues within the data centerpromptly, minimizing risk and effectivelycommunicatingissues to leadership.

  • Respond to emergencies and critical issues as necessary (independently and as a team), according to staffing andthe situation, to achievecomplete recovery.

  • Gather data and readings,troubleshootand document technical issues, escalate asappropriate, and ensure issue resolution.

  • Maintainaccuratefacility data,including rounds,preventive maintenance (PM) work orders, change incidents,and problem management.

  • Develop andmaintaindocumentation alongside operating procedures and facility datato createvalue-add metricsforboth Core Scientific and ourcustomers.

  • Maintain strict adherence to change control activitiesandassistinimprovingsystems.

  • Work effectively with outside contractorsandensure theyabideby critical facility work and safety rules.

  • Participateregularly in facility training, safety, and compliance programs.

  • Participate in construction and commissioning asthe Core Scientific Construction team directs.

  • Maintain a clean and debris-free facility, overseeing property management taskssuch asfacility rounds at the beginning of each shift,janitorial services,and landscaping.

  • Foster open, respectful, and professional communication directly within the team, with co-workers/ teammates,and leaders across the organization.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma/GEDisrequired.A degree in a related fieldoratechnicalcertificationis preferred.

  • A minimum of3yearsof experience working ina datacenter environmentisrequired.

  • Technical knowledgeofsystems such aselectrical distribution, emergency/standby power, HVAC, fireprotection, UPS systems, floor PDUs, rackPDUs, CRAH units, and monitoring and control systems(BMS/CMMS)isrequired.

  • Proficiencyin algebraic mathcomputations isrequired.

  • Musthave a valid driver's license.

  • Understanding networking hardware and software, including routers, switches, and protocols,ispreferred.

  • Abilitytowritereports and understand schematic and architectural drawingsisrequired.

  • Strong communicationskills arerequired.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other standard software programsisrequired.

Work Environment

Thispositionoperatesin adata center environment. This role routinelyutilizesstandard data center equipment, includinglaptop computers, smartphones, voltmeters, scissor lifts, forklifts, ladders, screwdrivers, and other hand tools.While performing these duties,the employee will be exposed to hot and cold environments.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands,andliftupto50 pounds.
