Job description

Nurse Or RMA

The Nurse or RMA provides quality patient care and promptly maintains medical records to ensure patient needs are met, in accordance with professional standards of care, licensure restrictions, federal and state regulations, accrediting agency standards, grant mandates, and Coplin Health System's mission, policies, and procedures.

Essential functions and responsibilities of the position include:

  • Providing safe, competent, and efficient clinical support for patient encounters in accordance with proper scope of practice and licensure, provider directives, FQHC regulations, and Coplin's mission and core values.
  • Will provide clinical healthcare services at a primary clinic site, but will be assigned to other sites as deemed necessary.
  • Documenting all patient visits/interactions in accordance with clinical policy and procedure and best practices to ensure the integrity and completeness of patient records.
  • Delivering quality patient healthcare in a safe, efficient, and competent manner.
  • Assisting in necessary screenings and procedures, including those that may involve members of the opposite sex (e.g., observed drug screens).
  • Attending and participating in patient care reports, daily huddles, team meetings, and other staff meetings as determined by supervisor.
  • Obtaining WV and OH Board of Pharmacy reports according to policy.
  • Administering medications, as per order, in accordance with seven (7) rights – right medication, right patient, right dosage, right route, right time, right reason, and right documentation.
  • Practicing within his/her scope of expertise and licensure.
  • Participating and/or assisting with site-specific projects and specialty programs (e.g. Diabetes, Well Child, BCCSP) as assigned.
  • Assisting with the development of written clinical policies and procedures as requested.
  • Participating in the development of risk management protocols as requested.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of all patient care information as required by HIPAA and Coplin policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring that patient rights are protected.
  • Assisting in maintaining clinical areas and equipment in accordance with cleanliness and safety standards (e.g., infection control policies and procedures).
  • Continually enhancing clinical practice by participating in professional development opportunities.
  • Mentoring the growth and development of co-workers through day to day guidance and in-service on areas of expertise.
  • Maintaining good working relationships with co-workers.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer and/or other members of the management team.

Job requirements and preferred qualifications include competencies such as collaboration, communication, consultation, facilitation, analysis, education, critical evaluation, ethical practice, and computation.

Education (level and type) and related work experience include:

  • If an RMA, must be certified/registered and have a current certification in CPR.
  • If a Nurse, a degree from an accredited school of nursing, current (unrestricted) state nursing licensure in WV or OH (as required by facility placement), and current certification in CPR required.

Employees are expected to follow CHS safety and health policies.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Those who are employed as a Float Nurse will receive mileage reimbursement per company policy if travel is required between sites.

The position is described as light physical activity job. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with frequent interruptions.
