Major & Essential Functions

• Provide direct legal representation to survivors of domestic, dating, and sexual violence and stalking in temporary, final, and other injunction for protection proceedings and civil prosecutions of injunction violations.
• Accept referrals from survivors seeking protection: 1) survivors seeking temporary injunctions, 2) survivors who obtained a temporary injunction and need representation at the final hearing, 3) survivors with a final injunction whose respondent has violated it, 4) survivors who need legal assistance to oppose a motion to dismiss the injunction.
• Manage a staff of IFP Project Attorneys and IFP Project Paralegals.

Work Environment Expectations

This position operates within a shared professional office environment and regularly requires travel to court, partner agencies, and other off‑site locations to support legal services. It involves a combination of office‑based work and active participation in court proceedings, requiring flexibility, mobility, and frequent interaction with staff, clients, and external stakeholders.

General Duties

• Abide by CASA’s Confidentiality Policy and all CASA policies and procedures.
• Treat residents, volunteers, and co‑workers respectfully at all times.
• Attend staff meetings, required trainings, and special projects designated by supervisor.
• Participate in ongoing training opportunities.
• Assist with training and supervision of volunteers and interns.
• Complete special projects and presentations as requested.
• Keep supervisor informed of successes, barriers, concerns, and performance issues.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

• Maintain respectful treatment of residents, volunteers, and co‑workers.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and at least two years of litigation experience, preferably representing survivors of domestic, dating, and sexual violence and stalking injunction for protection proceedings or prosecuting batterers in criminal proceedings.
• Experience may include direct legal representation during a law school supervised legal clinic or internship.
• Florida licensed attorney in good standing with no prior Florida Bar disciplinary proceedings resulting in a penalty.
• Experience managing and directing staff.
• Strong understanding of the dynamics of intimate partner violence and the heightened safety risks faced by survivors seeking to file an injunction for protection.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, critical thinking, problem‑solving abilities, and the ability to make appropriate decisions with minimal supervision.
• Valid Florida driver’s license and good driving record, meeting CASA insurer requirements.
• Ability to function independently and work cooperatively as part of a team.
• Willingness to submit to a criminal background check.
• All positions are essential and may require availability onsite or during emergencies and other critical times.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule that may include weekend and evening hours.
