Position Overview

We are seeking a knowledgeable and personable Optician / Technician with hands-on experience in eyeglass fitting, frame styling, and patient education. This role combines optical sales expertise with clinical support, both on the optical floor and in the exam room.

This position includes optical, clinical, and back office responsibilities. Candidates must be comfortable supporting all areas of the practice.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and passionate about delivering an excellent patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Fit, adjust, and dispense eyeglasses with precision
• Guide patients in selecting frames that meet both medical and aesthetic needs
• Take accurate optical measurements (PD, segment height, etc.)
• Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and proper eyewear care
• Train patients on contact lens insertion, removal, and hygiene
• Perform basic pretesting (autorefraction, tonometry, retinal imaging)
• Support the optometrist and team to maintain efficient patient flow
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional environment
• Assist with back office duties including patient intake, charting support, and workflow coordination
• Support administrative tasks such as scheduling, documentation, and general office organization
• Cross-train and provide coverage as needed to support clinic operations

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of optical experience (required)
• Strong skills in eyewear adjustments, repairs, and troubleshooting
• Knowledge of lens materials, coatings, and frame styles
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Friendly, patient-focused communicator
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and team-oriented
• Experience with contact lens training (preferred)
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems (preferred)
• Willingness to support both front office and back office responsibilities
