    About Code Metal

Code Metal is redefining code translation for mission-critical industries, helping defense partners move more quickly and reliably from algorithm to silicon. Our platform accelerates deployment of DSP, RF, communications, and embedded signal processing algorithms onto heterogeneous compute targets, including GPUs, FPGAs, ASICs, and edge SoCs. We also support automotive, aerospace, and semiconductor partners deploying complex algorithms onto constrained hardware with speed and rigor.

    The Role

This role at Code Metal sits at the intersection of engineering, research, and growth, helping translate emerging opportunities into real technical capabilities.

    Who thrives in this role:

    • Engineers who enjoy turning loosely defined opportunities into real systems.
    • Technically curious people who quickly explore unfamiliar domains and synthesize solutions.
    • Builders who combine strong technical judgment with practical execution.

A strong technical background is required, whether the candidateโ€™s experience comes from engineering, research, or technical business roles. You will often be the first person to explore how Code Metalโ€™s technology can solve entirely new classes of problems.

    Responsibilities:

    • Identify and shape new technical opportunities and architectures that expand how Code Metalโ€™s technology is applied in real-world systems for government and commercial users.
    • Rapidly investigate new technical domains and evaluate alternative solution paths through analysis, trade studies, and feasibility assessments.
    • Translate ambiguous problems into credible technical approaches, system concepts, and proposal content.
    • Lead the execution of proof-of-concept (PoC) system designs, collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders on scoping and providing technical judgment throughout
    • Find opportunities to showcase product differentiators when building solutions and PoCs for customers
    • Work across engineering, research, product, and growth teams.

    Requirements

    • Strong background in computer science, systems engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or a related technical field.
    • Ability to quickly learn about unfamiliar domains and synthesize new technical information.
    • Experience working with customers to create solutions and execute successful proofs of concept.
    • Strong analytical thinking and problem decomposition skills.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to contribute to technical proposals.
    • Self-starter with an ability to operate independently.

    Great to Have:

    • Experience designing or architecting complex technical systems.
    • Broad cross-domain software experience in one or more of the following: C/C++, Rust, Python, Verilog/VHDL, MATLAB, CUDA/OpenCL
    • Real-world edge computing or embedded experience where software, hardware, and physical systems intersect.
    • Experience working with U.S. Government programs or dual-use technologies.

    Benefits

    • Pay depends on experience, but we strive to be at the upper end of the salary range
    • Health care plan with 100% premium coverage, including medical, dental, and vision
    • 401k with 5% matching
    • Paid Time Off (uncapped vacation, plus sick and public holidays)
    • Flexible hybrid or remote work arrangement
    • Relocation assistance for qualifying employees
