mate finds it, Checkmate goes and gets it. Checkmate is the distribution network, with 100M+ shoppers and 12B+ live intent signals. mate is the AI layer built on top of it: it resolves anonymous visitors, spots the revenue a brand is missing, and builds and executes the campaigns to capture it.

mate runs six agents for brands:

1. Mate Intelligence: a customer dashboard and AI chatbot that surfaces the revenue a brand is missing.
2. Enrichment: identity resolution that reveals and resolves anonymous visitors.
3. Growth: AI-built, single-use offers delivered across our network and a brand's own channels, priced on performance, with no retainers and no lock-in.
4. Social Activation: enriches social handles into full shopper profiles.
5. LLM Visibility: tracks and grows how a brand shows up in AI search and assistants.
6. Code Leakage: finds leaked discount codes and replaces them with single-use ones.

The combination is rare: a consumer product shoppers love and an AI growth engine brands depend on.

The Role The short version

We're looking for someone to own how we show up in the world. Consumer social, community, creators, events, and the written stuff that makes people pay attention.

You'll shoot it, edit it, write it, post it and show up to it. This is a builder role, not a briefing role.

Two brands, one machine.

Checkmate is the consumer side and the distribution. 100M+ shoppers in our network and 12B+ live shopping intent signals. We reach people through our app, email, SMS and push, putting offers in front of shoppers they'd never have converted on their own. That's our ad network, and it's how we touch millions of consumers every single day.

mate. is the B2B side. It's an AI growth teammate for eCommerce brands. mate knows who a brand's shoppers are and when to reach them, then builds and runs the campaigns that convert them. 600+ brands work with us, including Everlane, Brooklinen and Malbon.

The relationship in one line: mate finds it. Checkmate goes and gets it.

That's why this role spans both. Checkmate is a consumer brand with 1.5M social followers who need real love and attention. mate is a B2B brand that needs a voice, a launch rhythm, and marketers paying attention every month.

What you'll own Roughly 70% consumer, 30% B2B. Here's what that looks like.

1. Consumer social (the biggest piece)

• Own TikTok, Instagram and YouTube end to end. The calendar, the ideas, the scripts, the shoot, the edit, the caption, the comments. We already have 1.5M followers. They've been underserved and there is enormous upside in giving them something worth showing up for. You'll be in frame or you'll find the people who are. We want someone with opinions about what's working on TikTok this month, not last year.

2. Community and creators

• Build and run our shopper and creator community. Recruit ambassadors, build a UGC pipeline, keep people genuinely engaged rather than just signed up. A community that's quiet isn't a community.

3. Written content and the mate voice

• Ghostwrite LinkedIn for our founders, run both company pages, and give mate a distinct B2B voice that eCommerce marketers actually want to read. Product launches are monthly and you'll own how they land.

4. Events

• Consumer meetups, plus the dinner and side-event circuit at eComm conferences. Guest list, format, room, follow-up. We want events people ask to be invited back to, not events people leave at 7:15.

5. Paid creative

• You won't own the paid budget. You will feed it. Creative variants, hooks, understanding how campaigns and ad groups are structured and what each one needs from you.

What success looks like at 6 months

• Checkmate has a clear vibe and a direction. People can feel what we are.
• Our positioning and the way we show up is clear and consistent across every channel.
• You've produced consistently viral videos and stayed relevant while doing it.
• You swung for the fences. Tried a tonne of crazy ideas. The bigger the better.
• You built a content system that produces at low cost. Repeatable, not heroic.
• mate has a clear B2B voice and product launches are on lock. Every month, without fail.

Must have

• 3-5 years in consumer brand, social or community. Ideally in-house at a DTC brand, marketplace or consumer app.
• You edit your own video and stills. CapCut, Premiere, Canva, whatever gets it done. We want to see things you personally cut.
• Comfortable on camera, or clearly good at recruiting and directing people who are.
• You write well. Genuinely well. We'll ask for samples.
• You've run paid social and understand campaign structure, ad groups and creative testing.
• You've built something from close to zero. Not "grew an established account by 15%".

Nice to have

• You've run events people actually wanted to be at
• Existing creator relationships in shopping, deals, lifestyle or personal finance
• Some B2B or founder-brand experience so the 30% isn't a cold start
