THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Product Development Director, the Senior Scientist will:
- Lead technical implementation of assigned product development programs, innovation strategies, and key initiatives in alignment with Technology Leadership, Product Management, and Commercial stakeholders.
- Design, synthesize, and characterize new catalysts for different market segments.
- Develop and implement new methods in evaluating the performance of catalysts for new applications.
- Initiate, plan, schedule, and conduct research on selected projects; promote culture of technical innovation and develop catalysts that add value or change the game across a broad range of end use markets.
- Work in a team to lead product selection, qualification, scale up, and routine problem solving for current and future generation products.
- Keep up to date on new scientific knowledge and discoveries to identify opportunities for Carus. Understand the needs of our customers to develop marketable solutions.
- Launch products, provide customer support, and participate in meetings which may necessitate some travel and overnight stays.
THE QUALIFICATIONS
The right candidate will be a person who can work independently and collaborate with a team of expert scientists. Your credentials ideally include:
- PhD in Chemistry or Materials Science (required).
- 3–5 years of commercial product development experience, with a proven track record of successfully driving projects from ideation through to industrial scale-up (required).
- Experience with synthesis, characterization, and performance testing of heterogeneous catalysts (required).
- Exposure to manufacturing environment, chemical, or process industry (required).
- Understanding of product development processes and applications in the indoor air quality, emission controls, and catalyst coatings industries (preferable).
- Experience with supporting customers and providing technical support and consultative solutions to address complex customer needs (preferable).
