Job description

Position Overview

Bulldog Scooters is looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined Small Engine & Electric Powersports Mechanic to join our team. This position involves diagnosing, repairing, assembling, and maintaining a variety of gas-powered and electric recreational vehicles, including scooters, mopeds, four-wheelers/ATVs, electric dirt bikes, and similar powersports equipment. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with their hands, can troubleshoot problems efficiently, and takes pride in completing repairs correctly and safely.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems on scooters, mopeds, ATVs/four-wheelers, electric dirt bikes, and related equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, tune-ups, brake service, tire replacement, chain adjustments, and fluid changes.
  • Repair and replace engines, carburetors, fuel systems, starters, batteries, brakes, suspension components, and other mechanical parts.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, wiring, switches, controllers, batteries, motors, and charging systems.
  • Perform basic diagnostics on lithium-battery-powered electric vehicles while following appropriate safety procedures.
  • Assemble and prepare new scooters, ATVs, electric bikes, and other units for customers.
  • Test repaired vehicles to verify proper operation and safety.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area.
  • Keep track of parts used and communicate additional repair needs when discovered.
  • Properly use and maintain shop tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Work efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and moving vehicles when needed.
  • Communicate clearly with management and other team members regarding repair status and parts needed.

Qualifications

  • Previous mechanical experience is preferred, especially with small engines, motorcycles, scooters, ATVs, lawn equipment, or powersports equipment.
  • Basic understanding of 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines.
  • Ability to diagnose fuel, ignition, electrical, braking, and drivetrain problems.
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience is a plus.
  • Experience with electric bikes, electric motorcycles, lithium batteries, controllers, or electric motors is a strong plus.
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, multimeters, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to follow repair procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to learn new products and technologies as our inventory continues to grow.
