Job description

Job Summary: Builders are responsible for assembling custom wooden box and crate products as directed by the shop supervisor.

Working Hours: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

  • Guaranteed time
  • Occasional overtime
  • Applicants must have reliable transportation

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepares raw materials for assembly
  • Assembles products per client specifications and Built-Rite’s quality standard
  • Able to use a measuring tape, nail gun, staple gun and impact driver
  • Learns and understands differences between actual and nominal lumber dimensions
  • Makes correct decisions as to useable and non-usable lumber based on customer specs.
  • Maintains a safe work environment by following safety procedures, regularly checking equipment and locking out/tagging out equipment requiring service
  • Maintains a clean work environment
  • Works cooperatively with fellow shop team members
  • Communicates proactively with supervisors and shop team to ensure production quality and efficiency
  • Willing to be instructed on production improvements

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Willing to switch from one task to another in accordance with production needs
  • Preferred: Able to read shop drawings with little or no assistance
  • Builders may be asked to operate a forklift if they have an operator’s license

Physical Demands:

  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Repetitive motions
  • Frequent bending, stooping, pushing and pulling of tools and wood products
  • Heavy lifting from time-to-time
  • Able to work in various temperature conditions
  • Operating production tools and machinery

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Basic math skills with both whole numbers and fractions
  • Preferred: Educational equivalent to four years of high school or prior work experience that demonstrates proficiency with the requirements of the position
  • Preferred: One to two recommendation letters for experience within the last three years
