Position Summary
The Locksmith / Access Control Technician is responsible for installing, servicing, and maintaining mechanical locks, electronic access control systems, and related security hardware across residential, commercial, and institutional environments. This role supports company operations by ensuring all security devices function reliably, meet code and customer requirements, and are documented according to company standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Install, service, and repair mechanical locks, key systems, and door hardware.
Install, program, and maintain electronic access control systems, including card readers, electric strikes, maglocks, keypads, and controllers
Run, terminate, and test low‐voltage cabling for access control and security hardware
Configure system software, user permissions, schedules, and audit functions
Perform site assessments to determine hardware, wiring, and system requirements
Rekey, master‐key, and maintain keying systems according to company and customer policies
Document all work performed, including wiring diagrams, device locations, programming notes, and parts used
Maintain company tools, test equipment, and assigned vehicle in clean, serviceable condition
Provide professional on‐site customer interaction consistent with company standards
Participate in on‐call rotation or after‐hours work as assigned
Protect confidential information, system credentials, and customer property at all times
Customer Training for new system installs.
Required Qualifications
Experience in locksmithing, access control installation, or a related technical trade
Working knowledge of electronic access control hardware, low‐voltage wiring, and basic networking concepts
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, door schedules, and system layouts
Familiarity with commercial door hardware: strikes, closers, hinges, exit devices, and storefront systems
Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company driving standards
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
Ability to work independently and follow established procedures

Regular standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs
Occasional handling of heavier equipment with assistance
Work performed indoors and outdoors, including mechanical rooms, IT closets, and tight spaces
Use of hand tools, power tools, meters, and low‐voltage installation equipment
