Description
Reporting to the Head Men's Basketball Coach, the Assistant Coach will assist in developing, organizing and administering all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division III Men's Basketball program. This is a part-time stipend position, paid bi-weekly.
The Assistant Coach must be able to build positive relationships with student-athletes, coaches, staff and campus partners. They will help support the athletic, academic and personal development of the Men's Basketball team with a commitment to sportsmanship, respect, diversity, equity and inclusion.
The Department of Athletics and Recreation is committed to providing a wide range of activities and services that assist Pratt students of various backgrounds and abilities in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Pratt has an athletics history dating back to the founding of the institution in 1887. Pratt is a proud member of NCAA Division III and competes in the Atlantic East Conference.
Examples of Duties
  • Assist the Head Coach with various aspects of coaching, such as planning and executing practices, video review, opponent scouting, and game planning
  • Recruit prospective student-athletes.
  • Advance team goals by communicating effectively with individual players, administrators and recruits
  • Manage road game travel, including driving the team - when needed - to road games in Pratt Institute vans.
  • Follow NCAA Division III and Atlantic East Conference rules and regulations and pass the annual Coaches Exam
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Basketball Coaching / Playing experience
  • Availability to work nights and weekends for games and practices is crucial
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to drive a 12-passenger van
  • Ability to thrive in a diverse and fast-paced environment is crucial
  • AED/CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience playing on, managing, and/or coaching a college or pro team
  • Familiarity with NCAA Division III rules
  • Familiarity with Synergy and Hudl
  • Collegiate recruiting experience
