    Description
    The Cass 3 Advanced School Resource Officer is a swotn law enforcement officer, with arrest powers,
    who works within Beaufort County School District's elementary schools. In this position, the Cass 3
    Advanced School Resource Officer will receive specialized training on how to work with youth. This
    position's work schedule will follow the same schedule as the administrative/teaching staff of the
    Beaufort County School District.
    Typical Qualifications
    General Qualifications
    South Carolina Code 23-23-60 (B) sets the minimum standards for law enforcement certification in South Carolina. Applicants must meet the following qualifications for employment:
    • US Citizen
    • 21years of age minimum
    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Valid S.C. driver's license (upon hiring)
    • Registered S.C. voter (upon hiring)
    • Resident of Beaufort County (upon hiring)
    • Fluent in the oral and written communication of the English language
    • Clean criminal record: No felony, serious misdemeanor or convictions of any crime of moral turpitude
    • Good credit history
    • Good driving record: no DUI or DUS convictions In the past five years
    • Candidates who have been in the military must have received an Honorable Discharge
    • Must successfully complete the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office physical agility course
    • Must be able to complete training program to receive Advanced Class 3 certification, as well as training through the National Association of School Resource Officers

    All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation.
