Company Description Badges & Breakthroughs, Inc. is a first responder–focused mental health and wellness 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting public safety professionals and their families. The organization provides trauma-informed, evidence-based education, training, and consultation to help agencies and individuals move from surviving to thriving. Partnering with law enforcement, fire/EMS, dispatch, corrections, and other public safety agencies, Badges & Breakthroughs builds sustainable, in‑house wellness and peer support programs rather than one‑time trainings. It also offers nationwide virtual peer support, coaching, and therapy for first responders, veterans, and family members, along with an online community and podcast that normalize seeking help. Through its Badge & Bone Initiative, the organization provides Second Chance Service Dogs and a K9 rehabilitation program, all in service of shattering stigma and fostering connection in the first responder community.
Role Description The Fundraising Officer volunteer role is a remote position focused on developing and supporting revenue-generating activities that sustain Badges & Breakthroughs’ programs and services. Day-to-day tasks include researching prospective donors, foundations, and corporate partners aligned with first responder mental health and wellness, and helping to build and maintain donor databases. The Fundraising Officer will assist in drafting fundraising appeals, grant application content, impact stories, and campaign messaging for digital and print channels. This role will coordinate virtual fundraising events and online campaigns, support relationship-building communications with donors and sponsors, and collaborate with team members to track fundraising progress and outcomes. The position is ideal for someone who wants to use their skills in philanthropy and communication to support a mission-driven nonprofit in a flexible, remote volunteer capacity.
