Journeyman Electrician – Battery Storage & Backup Power

BYOP Electric is seeking a Utah-licensed Journeyman Electrician to join our small team focused on battery storage and backup power projects, including occasional generator integration. Battery and generator experience is welcome but not required. We’re looking for someone with strong electrical skills, quality workmanship, and an interest in developing expertise in backup power systems.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot battery storage and backup power systems
• Support generator integration on applicable projects
• Complete electrical wiring, equipment connections, and associated circuitry
• Test systems to verify safe, reliable operation
• Ensure installations meet applicable Utah electrical codes, local requirements, and manufacturer instructions
• Prepare installations for inspection and address inspector feedback
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications
• Keep customers informed about project progress
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized jobsite

Required Qualifications

• Active Utah Journeyman Electrician license issued by DOPL
• At least four years of electrical experience
• Knowledge of electrical codes and safe work practices applicable in Utah
• Strong troubleshooting, blueprint reading, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with a small team
• Clear communication and customer service skills
• Willingness to learn battery storage, backup power, and generator integration practices

Preferred Qualifications — Not Required

• Experience with battery storage, standby generators, or integrated backup power systems
• Familiarity with inverters, automatic transfer switches, and utility interconnections
• Relevant manufacturer training or certifications
