Job description

Director of Operations

๐Ÿ“ Simi Valley, CA

About the Role

We are looking for a Director of Operations to lead our Simi Valley manufacturing facility. This leader will be accountable for the safe, reliable, and profitable performance of the site โ€” directing manufacturing, materials, manufacturing engineering, maintenance, receiving, warehousing, and plant logistics to meet customer service, quality, delivery, cost, and inventory goals. You'll build a high-performing, accountable team and apply Lean Manufacturing principles to improve flow, eliminate waste, and establish sustainable standard work, while partnering across the organization to align plant execution with company strategy.

What You'll Do

  • Lead all plant operations โ€” manufacturing, materials, manufacturing engineering, maintenance, receiving, warehousing, inventory control, and site logistics.
  • Develop and execute the annual operating plan to hit safety, quality, delivery, productivity, cost, capacity, and inventory targets.
  • Build a strong Lean Manufacturing culture through daily management, standard work, visual controls, root-cause problem solving, and continuous improvement events.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and employment requirements, and proactively reduce workplace risk.
  • Coach and hold leaders accountable; manage staffing, performance, succession, and engagement in partnership with HR.
  • Own the plant budget and operating results, including labor, overhead, capital spending, and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Lead major operational projects โ€” facility expansions, layout changes, equipment installations, and capacity improvements.
  • Partner with Quality, EHS, Supply Chain, Engineering, and other sites to resolve issues, launch products, and standardize best practices.
  • Manage supplier and contract-manufacturing performance to improve quality, delivery, and cost.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, operations, business, or a related field (equivalent experience considered).
  • 10+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience, including 5+ years leading a significant manufacturing operation.
  • Demonstrated success implementing Lean Manufacturing systems (standard work, 5S, value-stream mapping, Kaizen, root-cause analysis).
  • Broad knowledge of manufacturing operations, materials, maintenance, quality, EHS, and plant logistics.
  • Proven ability managing budgets, capital projects, and cross-functional improvement initiatives.
  • Strong technical aptitude; proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office.

Benefits

  • ESOP - Shares are fully vested after 3 years, with an annual contribution of approximately 7-8% of salary in company stock โ€” a meaningful way to build long-term wealth as the company grows.
  • 401(k) โ€” Eligible after 90 days of employment, with the company matching 50% of contributions up to 6%. Both traditional and Roth 401(k) options are available.
  • Medical Insurance โ€” Choose the plan that fits you, with options available at no cost to you (fully employer-paid)
