Job description

About Arrellio

Arrellio is a software company focused on making the lives of optometry practice staff easier. Since commercializing in 2024, we've grown to power over 1,000 optometry practices across the country. Practices run on Arrellio because we automate the operational "death by a thousand cuts" they deal with every day: contact lens ordering, insurance verification, and patient engagement all in one system. Our tagline is "We Solve The Annoying $#!% For Optometry Practices," because that is exactly what we do.

Role Overview

We're looking for a Mobile App Developer to join our small but high-impact technical team in Austin. You'll work closely with senior engineers and leadership to build and own the mobile experience for products that serve optometrists and patients every day, from architecture decisions through App Store and Google Play releases.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain our cross-platform mobile application (React Native or Flutter) for iOS and Android from scratch.
  • Own features end-to-end: architecture, implementation, testing, and release
  • Integrate the mobile app with backend services built in Python (FastAPI, Flask, or Django) and Node.js (Express, Hapi)
  • Translate Figma designs into polished, pixel-accurate mobile UI
  • Manage app store deployment pipelines, versioning, and release processes for iOS and Android
  • Optimize app performance, responsiveness, and offline reliability for real-world practice and patient use
  • Work with SQL and NoSQL databases as needed for mobile-facing features
  • Contribute to internal APIs, automation tools, and AI-driven features
  • Learn domain-specific concepts in healthcare and optometry tech
  • Participate in code reviews and product discussions

What This Role Is NOT

We are not looking for someone who wants to work heads-down on a single, well-defined platform with a large team of mobile engineers around them. We don't have a mature, established mobile org, you'll be building a lot of it yourself. This isn't a punch-the-clock role. Some weeks are deep feature work, some are release-and-support weeks, and we trust you to manage your time like an owner.

Who Thrives Here

We're a small team of people work hard and genuinely care about what we're building. Results are visible to everyone. The people who do best here are self-starters: curious, determined, and drawn to solving problems rather than waiting for the spec to be handed to them. We value engineers who build genuine, lasting relationships, both with the practices who use what they build and with their teammates.
