Job description

*** This is a direct hire for AppGate.  The Associate Delivery Engineer supports the deployment, installation, configuration, and sustainment of the AppGate ZTNA platform across U.S. Federal and DoD environments. Working under the direction of Senior Deployment Engineers, the Associate handles installation and configuration tasks, follows established runbooks, assists with integrations and troubleshooting, and documents the work. The role suits engineers early in their careers who want to build their skills in Zero Trust access delivery. Key Responsibilities * Install and configure AppGate controllers, gateways, and clients under the direction of senior engineers. * Follow deployment runbooks and standard operating procedures. * Assist with integrations to identity providers and telemetry sources (SAML, OIDC, RADIUS, LDAP, Active Directory). * Help troubleshoot deployment issues using logs, shell access, and basic packet inspection. * Write and modify basic scripts (Bash, PowerShell, or Python) to support deployment and sustainment tasks. * Apply STIG and SCAP hardening steps as directed. * Support sustainment activities: patching, upgrades, health checks, and ticket resolution. * Maintain accurate deployment documentation and configuration records. * Escalate complex issues to senior engineers with clear, well-documented context. Required Qualifications * 2 to 4 years in a systems, network, security, or IT engineering role, or equivalent hands-on experience. * Working knowledge of Linux systems administration. * Comfort with at least one scripting language (Bash, PowerShell, or Python). * Basic understanding of identity and authentication concepts (Active Directory, LDAP, SAML). * Basic understanding of networking and security fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, firewalls, VPNs). * Familiarity with at least one public cloud or virtualization platform. * Attention to detail and good documentation habits. * Willingness to learn and take direction in a delivery environment. * Bachelor's degree in engineering, information technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent related experience. Preferred Qualifications * Entry-level certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, Linux+, or CCNA. * Exposure to public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or containers (Docker, Kubernetes). * Prior internship or hands-on experience in a Federal or other regulated environment. Clearance * Active U.S. security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain one. Top Secret a plus. Travel * Willingness to travel to customer sites as project and customer needs require, typically up to 50%. * This is a remote opportunity, though we are ideally looking for someone from the following locations: * Scott Air Force Base, in St. Clair County, Illinois * Gunter Air Force Base, Montgomery, Alabama * Kirland Air Force Base, Albuquerque, New Mexico * Maryland/DC/VA area
