About Apex Infrastructure Consultants

Apex Infrastructure Consultants is a growing engineering and construction management consulting firm supporting large-scale infrastructure and mission-critical construction projects across the United States.

We are looking for a hands-on Construction Safety Manager / EHS Manager to support active data center construction projects. This role is ideal for someone with strong field safety experience who enjoys being on site, working with contractors, identifying risks, improving safety performance, and helping project teams build a strong safety culture.

This is a great opportunity for someone with construction safety experience in data centers, industrial facilities, manufacturing, energy, utilities, infrastructure, commercial construction, or other complex project environments.

Position Summary

The Construction Safety Manager will support environmental, health, and safety efforts across active construction sites. This person will work closely with project teams, general contractors, subcontractors, and site leadership to monitor safety performance, conduct field walks, review documentation, support incident investigations, and drive continuous improvement.

The right candidate is practical, collaborative, field-oriented, and comfortable working directly with contractors and project leadership to identify risks and help resolve issues before they become incidents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor contractor EHS performance to ensure safe work practices, regulatory compliance, and project safety requirements are being followed.
  • Conduct regular site safety walks, field observations, audits, and inspections.
  • Participate in daily and weekly safety walks with contractor safety teams, superintendents, and field leadership.
  • Review hazard assessments, job safety analyses, pre-task plans, work permits, and risk mitigation plans for completeness and effectiveness.
  • Identify unsafe conditions, non-conformance items, and high-risk activities, and help drive corrective actions to closure.
  • Support incident reviews, root cause analysis, corrective action planning, and follow-up.
  • Track and communicate safety trends, leading indicators, lagging indicators, incidents, observations, and key project risks.
  • Review contractor-submitted safety data and reports for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Participate in safety meetings, field walks, project coordination meetings, leadership meetings, and planning discussions.
  • Coach and advise contractor teams on safety expectations, field execution, and continuous improvement.
  • Help develop and manage site safety improvement plans and related action items.
  • Support site visits, audits, inspections, and special project events as needed.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of construction safety, EHS, site safety, or contractor safety experience.
  • Experience working on active construction sites with general contractors and subcontractors.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA construction standards and field safety practices.
  • Experience conducting safety walks, inspections, audits, and field observations.
  • Ability to review safety documentation, hazard assessments, work plans, and permits.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with field teams, contractors, and project leadership.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
