Outside Sales Representative – Building Products

Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana

Territory: Fort Wayne and surrounding area

Compensation: Made up of a base salary plus incentives

Grow an Established Territory — You're Not Starting From Scratch

We are looking for an Outside Sales Representative to serve builders, contractors, and construction professionals throughout the Fort Wayne area.

This is an established territory with a strong base of existing builder and contractor relationships. Your primary focus will be to strengthen those relationships, grow existing accounts, expand product sales, and develop new business opportunities.

Our product offering includes vinyl and fiber‑cement siding, LP SmartSide, soffit, fascia, windows, and related building materials.

If you are an experienced building‑products salesperson—or a proven salesperson who is confident you can learn the industry and build strong customer relationships—we'd like to hear from you.

The Opportunity

This is a relationship‑driven sales role with the opportunity to take ownership of an established territory and build on an existing customer base.

You will work directly with builders, contractors, and other decision‑makers to understand their needs, recommend products, prepare quotes, identify sales opportunities, and coordinate with our internal team to deliver the products and service customers expect.

You will have the opportunity to:

• Build and strengthen long‑term relationships with existing builder and contractor accounts.
• Grow sales within established accounts by identifying customer needs and additional product opportunities.
• Develop new builder and contractor relationships.
• Visit customers and jobsites throughout the territory and identify upcoming projects.
• Introduce customers to additional products and solutions.
• Prepare and follow up on quotes and help customers with product, application, and jobsite questions.
• Work closely with inside sales, estimating, purchasing, warehouse, and delivery teams to follow through on customer commitments.
• Monitor market conditions, competitors, and new product opportunities while consistently working toward sales and profitability goals.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate has a proven sales record and experience selling building products to builders, contractors, remodelers, or other construction professionals. Experience with siding or exterior building products is preferred, but successful salespeople from other industries who can quickly learn our products will also be considered.

• Builds genuine, long‑term customer relationships.
• Is self‑motivated, organized, and comfortable managing a territory independently.
• Is comfortable working with business owners, purchasing personnel, project managers, estimators, and other decision‑makers.
• Can learn technical products and clearly communicate their value.
• Can manage an established customer base while actively pursuing opportunities for growth.
• Enjoys spending time in the field visiting customers and jobsites.
• Understands that exceptional customer service is an important part of successful sales.
• Has strong communication, negotiation, and follow‑through skills.

Preferred Experience

Experience in outside sales within building materials or construction is preferred, particularly experience with: Siding and exterior building products; Windows, Roofing, Lumber, Millwork, and Residential construction.

Existing relationships with Fort Wayne‑area builders and contractors are a plus.

Compensation

Competitive compensation based on experience, skill level, and industry background, including a base salary plus incentives tied to sales performance and customer retention.
