Job description
IT Technician Job Summary
The IT Technician provides first-level technical support for end users while assisting with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of audiovisual (AV) systems. This role supports Windows-based workstations, software applications, conference room technology, and related equipment to ensure reliable technology services for faculty, staff, and administrative personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, software, and peripheral devices.
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows workstations and Microsoft Office applications.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, network connectivity, and user account issues.
- Deploy new computers and manage IT and AV equipment inventory.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot conference room AV systems, displays, projectors, audio equipment, and video conferencing technology.
- Provide AV support for meetings and special events as needed.
- Coordinate equipment repairs, warranty service, and vendor support.
- Document support activities and collaborate with IT staff to improve technology services.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Two or more years of IT support, desktop support, or AV support experience.
- Working knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, and desktop hardware.
- Basic knowledge of audiovisual systems, including conference room technology and video conferencing platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Experience supporting Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, or similar collaboration platforms.
- Familiarity with AV technologies such as Crestron, Extron, Biamp, or QSC.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or CTS.
