POSITION SUMMARY
The ASES Tutor position will provide academic assistance services to students who need remedial assistance, including tutoring students in specific academic areas related to their core curriculum and/or assist students with their homework assignments or projects during the afterschool program. The after school support staff will be under the supervision of the Site Director or ASES Coordinator.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Tutor students during Homework Help during after school program.
  • Teach an Enrichment class of your choice to students during after school program
  • Assist with integrating core-curriculum concepts
  • Manage groups of students to make efficient use of time
  • Consult with Site Director or ASES Coordinator on academic assistance strategies
  • Communicate regularly with school-day teachers and ASES program staff
  • Ensure student safety and school accountability
  • Keep accurate records and collect data on students
  • Attend in-service trainings as well as other appropriate trainings according to Professional development

QUALIFICATIONS
Required knowledge and skills
  • Work experience in a school setting with students
  • Must possess organization, communication and problem solving skills.
  • Must pass a DOJ background check.
  • Must be willing to create and follow through with individualized professional development plan.
  • Ability to demonstrate skills in development of academic activities.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • High level of communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong initiative and ability to solve problems.
