Position Summary

LNP Media Group, publisher of LNP and LancasterOnline, is seeking motivated, curious and collaborative journalism interns to join our editorial team for Spring 2027.

This paid, 12-week internship provides emerging journalists with hands-on experience in a professional newsroom serving Lancaster County. Interns will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced journalists while developing their reporting, writing, interviewing, editing and storytelling skills.

Spring 2027 interns may work with our news, features or sports teams, based on their interests, experience and newsroom needs. Interns will contribute meaningful work from the start and gain exposure to the fast-paced, deadline-driven environment of local journalism.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Report, research and write accurate, engaging stories for LNP and LancasterOnline.
  • Conduct interviews with community members, public officials, business leaders and other sources.
  • Cover breaking news, community events, government meetings, sporting events and other assignments as directed.
  • Develop feature stories and enterprise reporting ideas relevant to Lancaster County readers.
  • Gather and verify information from multiple sources while maintaining high standards for accuracy and fairness.
  • Work with editors to revise and strengthen stories for publication.
  • Develop story pitches and contribute ideas during newsroom discussions and planning.
  • Meet deadlines and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
  • Develop familiarity with digital journalism, including writing and editing content for online audiences.
  • Collaborate with reporters, editors, photographers and other members of the editorial team.
  • Follow LNP Media Group's journalistic standards, ethics, policies and professional expectations.
  • Participate in newsroom meetings, coaching and professional development opportunities.
  • Perform other editorial and reporting duties as assigned.
Internship Areas

Candidates should indicate their preferred internship area when applying:

News: Cover breaking news, local government, public safety, community issues and other stories affecting Lancaster County.

Features: Develop human-interest, lifestyle, entertainment, culture and community-focused stories that showcase the people and experiences of Lancaster County.

Sports: Report on local sports, including high school and community athletics, through game coverage, features, interviews and other sports-related assignments.

Assignments may cross departments depending on newsroom needs and the intern's interests.

What You'll Gain

The LNP Media Group internship program is designed to provide meaningful professional experience for journalists beginning their careers. Interns will have opportunities to:

  • Build a portfolio of published work.
  • Chase and report breaking news.
  • Cover local sports and community events.
  • Develop compelling feature and enterprise stories.
  • Strengthen interviewing, reporting, writing and editing skills.
  • Learn how a professional local newsroom operates.
  • Receive feedback and mentorship from experienced journalists and editors.
  • Work as part of a collaborative and supportive journalism team from day one.
Schedule & Internship Details

This is a full-time, 12-week paid internship beginning in early February and concluding in late April 2027. Interns are paid $15.00 per hour. Because journalism does not always occur during traditional business hours, schedules may vary depending on the assigned department and coverage needs. Some evening or weekend assignments may be required. This position is not remote. Interns must be located in Lancaster County during the internship. Free housing will be provided for interns who need accommodations during the program.

Application Information

The deadline to apply for the Spring 2027 internship program is October 31, 2026.

Candidates are encouraged to submit:

  • Cover letter
  • Resume
  • Writing samples or links to published work
  • Preferred internship area: News, Features or Sports
