Clinical Support Specialist
Location: Ashland, KY (Hybrid/Field-Based)

Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Crisis Intervention Specialist to provide immediate support and stabilization services to individuals experiencing mental health, substance use, or situational crises. The ideal candidate is skilled in crisis assessment, de-escalation techniques, safety planning, and connecting clients with community resources.
This role requires strong interpersonal skills, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to remain calm and effective in fast-paced, high-pressure situations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct crisis assessments to evaluate risk, safety concerns, and immediate needs.
  • Provide crisis counseling, emotional support, and stabilization services.
  • Utilize verbal de-escalation and intervention techniques to manage acute situations.
  • Develop individualized crisis response and safety plans.
  • Coordinate services with healthcare providers, law enforcement, social services, and community agencies.
  • Facilitate referrals to behavioral health, housing, substance use treatment, and other support programs.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Conduct follow-up outreach to ensure continuity of care and service engagement.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews and treatment planning meetings.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational policies, ethical standards, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Participate in on-call coverage and emergency response activities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Human Services, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in crisis intervention, behavioral health, social services, or emergency response.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment, suicide prevention, trauma-informed care, and crisis de-escalation practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Professional licensure or licensure eligibility (LMSW, LCSW, LPC, LMFT, etc.).
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or similar certification.
  • Experience with mobile crisis response teams or 988 Crisis Services.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
