Job description

Metal Finisher & Final Assembly Technician
Build Something You’re Proud to Put Your Name On:
Acucraft manufactures premium, American-made fireplaces for some of the most distinctive homes and commercial spaces across the country. Our products don’t come off your typical assembly line, and this isn’t an ordinary assembly position.
We’re looking for a hands-on, mechanically skilled Metal Finisher & Final Assembly Technician who takes pride in craftsmanship and knows the difference between simply getting a job done and getting it done right. This position is best suited for someone with experience in metal finishing, grinding, fabrication, welding/fabrication environments, industrial painting, skilled assembly, or similar hands-on manufacturing work.
This is not a pick-and-pack or entry-level warehouse position. You’ll be responsible for transforming welded steel fireplace assemblies into polished, painted, fully assembled products that meet Acucraft’s high quality standards before they’re shipped to customers.
What You’ll Do:
As part of Acucraft’s Final Assembly team, you’ll work directly with fabricated steel fireplace components and finished products. Your responsibilities will include:
● Grind and finish welded steel surfaces to create clean, professional finished products
● Prep metal surfaces for paint, including grinding, sanding, cleaning, masking, and other finishing processes
● Paint fireplace components and inspect finished surfaces for quality
● Identify welds, surface imperfections, sharp edges, and other areas requiring finishing work
● Use grinders, sanders, drills, saws, nail guns, and other hand and power tools safely and effectively
● Measure, cut, fit, and install firebrick, glass doors, insulated panels, and other fireplace components.
● Assemble insulated panel systems according to specifications
● Read drawings, work instructions, measurements, and production documentation
● Complete final fireplace assembly and verify fit, finish, and overall product quality
● Build custom shipping pallets and crates to protect finished fireplaces during transportation
● Work closely with fabrication, welding, quality, and production team members to resolve issues
● Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
What We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for someone who is comfortable working with their hands and has demonstrated experience producing quality finished work. Strong candidates will have experience with one or more of the following:
● Metal grinding, sanding, polishing, or surface finishing
● Weld cleanup and post-weld finishing
● Metal fabrication or welding environments
● Industrial painting or metal paint preparation
● Skilled mechanical or manufacturing assembly
● Sheet metal or steel fabrication
● Finish carpentry or other precision trades
You should be able to:
● Confidently operate common hand and power tools
● Accurately read a tape measure and work from specified dimensions
● Follow blueprints, drawings, work instructions, and quality standards
● Recognize when a finished surface does not meet quality expectations and correct it
● Work independently while also contributing to a production team
● Lift up to 50lbs throughout the workday
● Work overtime when production needs require it
● Take pride in producing clean, precise, customer-ready work
This Role May Be a Great Fit If…
You’re the person who notices the details other people miss. You know how to make rough metal look finished. You’re comfortable with grinders and power tools. You understand that a visible scratch, poor paint prep, unfinished weld, crooked component, or a bad fit isn’t “good enough.” Most importantly, you enjoy seeing a physical product go from raw fabrication to something you’re proud to send to a customer.
Why Acucraft?
Acucraft is a growing Minnesota manufacturer specializing in premium and custom fireplaces. We combine skilled craftsmanship, engineering, technology, and innovation to build products that become centerpieces in homes and commercial spaces across the country. We’re a collaborative team that values quality work, candid communication, continuous improvement, and the people behind the products we build. This is an opportunity to develop your skills, work on unique products, and grow with a company that continues to invest in its people, products, and manufacturing capabilities.
Compensation & Benefits
Starting Pay: $20.00/hour, with higher starting pay available based on relevant metal finishing,
fabrication, painting, or manufacturing experience.
Benefits available to eligible employees include:
● Health insurance
● Dental insurance
● Life insurance
● 401(k)
● 401(k) matching
● Paid time off
● Quarterly profit sharing
● Monday-Friday day shift
● No regularly scheduled weekends
Job Type: Full-time
Work Location: In person, Big Lake, Minnesota
Before You Apply
This position requires hands-on experience working with tools and a strong focus on finish quality. When applying, please include any experience you have with grinding, metal finishing, fabrication, welding, painting, skilled assembly, or related trades.
If you take pride in craftsmanship and like turning raw steel into a finished product, we’d like to hear from you.
