Job description

Location: Decatur, GA 30033

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday
  • 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Full-Time and Part-Time opportunities available


Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team in Decatur, GA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting physicians and patients through a combination of clinical and administrative duties. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent patient care, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced medical environment.


Clinical Responsibilities

  • Document chief complaints and complete the patient triage process within 5 minutes of check-in.
  • Assist physicians with physical examinations and minor procedures.
  • Measure and record vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, pulse, and respirations.
  • Administer childhood vaccines according to the Georgia Vaccine Schedule.
  • Document patient visit requests in the EMR according to established protocols.
  • Administer medications and injections under the direction of the healthcare provider.
  • Collect laboratory specimens, including blood and urine samples, as ordered.
  • Provide patient education materials, including Vaccine Information Statements (VIS) and other healthcare resources.
  • Prepare exam rooms and maintain sanitation protocols.
  • Follow strict infection control procedures and maintain a clean, safe, and sterile environment.
  • Educate patients on infection prevention and proper hygiene practices.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Schedule patient appointments according to office protocols.
  • Manage patient check-in and check-out processes.
  • Verify insurance information and assist with billing and coding functions.
  • Process referrals in accordance with insurance requirements.
  • Respond to patient calls within 24 hours of receipt, or the same business day for urgent matters.
  • Assist with appointment reminder calls.
  • Help manage inventory and order medical supplies as needed.
  • Perform additional administrative and clinical duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Previous Medical Assistant experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of EMR systems and medical office procedures.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual communication skills preferred.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient care.
  • Understanding of infection control and patient confidentiality requirements.
