Step into a day restoring power-generation components
When you arrive, you’ll review blueprints and technical specs, plan your sequence, and get hands-on with precision repairs. Most of your day (about 75%) is spent expertly grinding and blending welds and surfaces to meet OEM and customer standards. The remaining time (about 25%) you’ll perform high-precision TIG weld repairs on delicate turbine and generator components, minimizing distortion and maintaining tight tolerances.
What you’ll do
- Repair and manufacture turbine/generator parts, with an emphasis on TIG welding.
- Grind, blend, and finish welds and surfaces to OEM/customer satisfaction (approximately 75% grinding/blending, 25% welding).
- Disassemble and reassemble turbine/generator components.
- Inspect parts and components using precision measurement equipment.
- Prepare and blend parts, including media blasting.
- Coordinate daily priorities with job site managers.
- Operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely and efficiently.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
- Pitch in and support other shop areas when needed.
