Mechanical & Machining Engineer | Knoxville, TN
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical & Machining Engineer for a full-time, on-site opportunity in Knoxville, Tennessee. This role is ideal for an engineering professional with strong precision machining expertise and hands-on ceramic machining experience.

Core Technical Requirements
- Extensive experience with ceramic machining processes
- Wire EDM, diamond grinding, and CNC milling
- CNC programming, setup, and operation
- Experience with conventional lathes, mills, and advanced machining equipment
- Strong knowledge of machine-shop manufacturing processes and setups
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, Mastercam, or comparable CAD/CAM software
- GD&T and precision inspection procedures
- Experience with CMMs, 3D imaging, and other advanced metrology systems
- Mechanical design, tooling, fixturing, and prototype machining
- CMMS, equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and process improvement
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and improve in-house machining capabilities for high-precision components
- Design and manufacture production tooling, fixtures, and prototypes
- Analyze engineering drawings and perform DFM assessments
- Address quality and inspection issues and develop corrective solutions
- Identify, procure, install, maintain, and calibrate machine-shop equipment
- Improve machining processes, methodologies, productivity, and quality
- Lead machining-related cost optimization and cost-reduction initiatives
- Support product design and development with manufacturing expertise
- Lead production and prototype tooling and finish-machining activities
- Collaborate with external machine shops on capacity and scheduling requirements
Industry & Application
The position supports the development and manufacturing of components used in commercial nuclear reactors and advanced nuclear technology applications. Candidates with experience machining ceramic components for demanding, high-performance applications are strongly preferred.

Please note that general machining experience alone is not sufficient. Specific experience with ceramic machining is a key requirement.
