Job Description:
Job Summary
The Center for Academic Vision and Enrichment (C.A.V.E.) is currently looking for candidates for the position of Academic Mentor. The C.A.V.E. is a comprehensive academic support center that focuses on fostering academic success for student-athletes. Learning Specialists, along with academic mentors, will work to develop students' learning strategies and compensatory skills in order for students to find success while meeting Purdue's rigorous academic standards. The Center for Academic Vision and Enrichment will provide student-athletes with support in areas of academics, time management, organization, study skills and test taking strategies.
Mentors assist in a wide scope of academic areas but are expected to be able to do the following:
  • Assist in developing positive academic behavior.
  • Enhance academic skills such as note-taking, reviewing, studying, stages of writing, etc.
  • Help students understand the requirements of assignments.
  • Communicate progress of student performance to Learning Specialists.
