About This Role

THE DIRECTOR LEADS THE DAILY OPERATIONS OF AN EARLY LEARNING FACILITY. THEY SUPERCISE TEACHING STAFF, MANAGE THE CENTER'S BUDGET, ENSURE STRICT COMPLIANCE WITH STATE LICENSING AND SAFETY REGULATIONS, DEVELOP EDUCATIONAL CURRICULA, AND ACT AS THE PRIMARY LIASON BETWEEN PARENTS, CHILDREN, AND THE COMMUNITY


  • Staff Management: Recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluating teachers. They also handle staff scheduling to ensure compliance with legal adult-to-child ratios. Harrisburg Area YMCA

Requirements
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related human services field is highly preferred, though Associate's degrees paired with relevant coursework are often accepted.
  • Experience: Typically 1 to 3 years of programmatic or teaching experience, as well as prior supervisory or administrative experience in a licensed childcare facility.
  • Licensing Requirements: Directors must usually pass background checks, obtain CPR/First Aid certification, and meet specific continuing education or state-mandated training hours.
