Job Description

We are seeking a Full Time Social Worker to join our team in New Hampshire!

BASIC FUNCTION:

Deliver psychology services to students and clients of our School. Services may include individual and group therapy, consultation with staff, parents and outside agency personnel, in-service training of other staff members, and development of behavior management programs which enable the clients to maximize their potential and enable the students/clients to live as independently as possible in the least restrictive appropriate environment.

We are a fully accredited pre-K to 12+ residential and day school located less than two hours from Boston and 45 minutes from Manchester, NH, we serve students with complex diagnoses including autism, emotional disorders, developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and mental health needs. We have 24-hour nursing support and a physician on site.

Our staff of para-educators, teachers, administrators, therapists, clinicians, and residential counselors is committed to a singular mission: meeting all students where they are to help them achieve their goals. We work closely with school districts, families, and state agencies to guide students toward greater independence and a high quality of life.

Our school is approved by the New Hampshire Department of Education as a private special education school and a non-public school. We are approved to serve all 13 educational coding for students age 4 through 21. Our school approval is recognized by other states, including Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, New York, New Jersey, and Illinois.

SCOPE:

Perform duties in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team under the supervision and direction of the Director of Psychology and/or Clinical Psychology Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters degree in Social Work, or other Masters Degree in a social science/service field deemed appropriate, from a regionally accredited school, college, or university and at least one year experience since the graduate degree; and eligibility for certification as a School Social Worker by the NH Department of Education; or eligibility for other certification deemed appropriate.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physically able to lift various materials up to 15 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.
  • Possess dexterity required to frequently operate a computer as required by position.

SCHEDULE:

8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.five days per week with flexibility of schedule to meet the needs of the department, upon approval by the Director of Psychological Services.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work under the general supervision of the Director to develop, review, and modify a program of psychology services for each client. Integrate the professional advice of a consulting psychologist with each client’s program.
  • Work with teams of professional and para-professional staff who are responsible for the program of the individual clients. Activities include: offer consultation, strategy, guidance and advice to other staff regarding psychological and behavioral program management, develop and/or coordinate behavior management programs; assist teachers, direct care counselors, and managers, etc., in the goals and application of the Behavior Management Program; develop and monitor a system to document program effectiveness and the client’s progress in assimilating desired behavior patterns; review and update program based on results of the monitoring system; coordinate with all team members to insure compatibility with overall program; contribute to the positive, constructive, goal oriented activities of the team; help coordinate the basic group process of the team.
  • Review behavior programs with the Human Rights Committee as required.
  • Prepare IEP behavioral goals in conjunction with all members of the inter-disciplinary team. Develop periodic reports as instructed, regarding client progress. Make off mountain visits and consultations with client’s family and Local Education Agency, etc. as needed. Facilitate program continuity during client vacations by forwarding progress reports and other necessary information in consultation with Case Management.
  • Provide monthly summaries and units delivered, quarterlies, contract and progress notes, clinical evaluation and testing reports, behavior management reports, goals and objectives for program planning, summaries of counseling and consultation data, notes on parent contact and other reports as appropriate and required.
  • Provide advice in program development in educational, residential, and interdepartmental areas.
  • Provide input for staff development. This training may include observation and intervention in the application of specific techniques, lecture presentation, and other modes of instruction.
