Wine Steward- Restaurant Depot


Overview:

Our stores offer bulk quantities of fresh meat, seafood, produce, dairy, a wide selection of frozen foods, grocery items, beverages, paper goods, cleaning supplies, restaurant equipment, wine & spirits and more. Open seven days a week, we are committed to the success of small business owners who depend on us for consistent quality and volume pricing. As we continue to expand, we are looking for driven individuals who embody an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for supporting the success of small businesses.


We are seeking a knowledgeable and driven Wine & Spirits Department Manager to oversee daily operations of our Wine & Spirits department. This role is responsible for receiving product, maintaining fully stocked and well-merchandised aisles, ensuring compliance with all state and local alcohol regulations, and delivering exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate brings strong wine and spirits knowledge, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to build relationships with licensed wholesale customers. This isn't just a sales job; you are a consultant for our members. You will leverage Restaurant Depot’s existing loyal customer base to grow our Wine & Spirits department.


Key Responsibility

  1. Demonstrate strong wine, beer, and spirits knowledge when assisting customers
  2. Build and maintain relationships with large customers and support new account development
  3. Assist customers to develop wine and cocktail offerings that feature our products
  4. Build and maintain in-store displays to ensure seamless customer experience.
  5. Ensure compliance with all State and Local alcohol wholesale laws and regulations
  6. Communicate with customers how Restaurant Depot private labels can generate higher profits for their businesses
  7. Continually upsell active customers by introducing new products and expanding Restaurant Depot’s portion of their W&S offerings
  8. Oversee product receiving, inventory organization, and shelf replenishment
  9. Operate safely in environments with forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and other equipment

Experience Preferred:

  1. Minimum 2 years of experience in Wine & Spirits sales, preferably in New York State (applicants with experience in restaurants or retail will also be considered)
  2. Experience with restaurants and wine/cocktail lists a plus
  3. Strong knowledge of wine, beer, and spirits preferred
  4. Speaking Spanish is a significant plus


Position Requirements:

  1. Frequent standing and walking
  2. Frequent bending, reaching, and stooping
  3. Comfortable working around moving equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks
  4. Willing to fill-in shifts in NY-area branches, as needed (requires ability to lift up to 45 lbs)
  5. High motivation and entrepreneurial spirit
