Key Responsibilities

As a Physical Therapist, your responsibilities will include:

• Directing physical therapy treatment aimed at preventing disability, alleviating pain, and improving muscle function based on tailored treatment plans.
• Conducting thorough evaluations of patients' physical capabilities using diagnostic tests to formulate effective treatment strategies.
• Overseeing and mentoring physical therapy assistants, ensuring the correct implementation of therapy plans.
• Administering manual therapy techniques including therapeutic exercises, traction, and massage to facilitate rehabilitation.
• Regularly assessing patient progress, reporting changes in condition, and making necessary adjustments to treatment plans in collaboration with other healthcare providers.
• Documenting clinical records meticulously, including initial evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries, adhering to organizational policies.
• Evaluating home environments to ensure that clients can achieve autonomy and recommending adaptations as needed.
• Engaging in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care strategies and updates.
• Providing education to patients and their families about treatment plans and the use of therapy devices.
• Completing other duties as assigned to meet organizational goals and enhance patient care.

Qualifications

To thrive in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
• Current licensure to practice as a Physical Therapist in Virginia, in good standing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification.
• Valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance.
• Strong understanding of federal and state regulations regarding physical therapy.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to foster effective patient engagement.

Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, the following experiences are advantageous:

• At least one year of experience working as a Physical Therapist, preferably in acute care or home care settings.
• Experience with patient documentation and familiarity with OASIS assessments.
• Background in working as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Proficient in utilizing physical therapy modalities and advanced therapeutic equipment.

Compensation and Benefits
