Job description

Allegiance Mobile Health of San Antonio, TX and Bexar Co 911 is looking to hire Tactical Paramedics. The Tactical Paramedic position with Allegiance Mobile Health demands exceptional physical and mental resilience. Joining this elite team is not a decision to be taken lightly. As a tactical paramedic, you will face challenges far beyond the scope of conventional pre-hospital care. The Allegiance Special Operations Medical Support Team exists to provide local, state, and federal law enforcement with highly trained paramedics who are equipped to operate effectively in high-risk environments. These scenarios include, but are not limited to, active shooter incidents, high-risk warrant executions, hostage situations, or any operation deemed too dangerous for standard EMS personnel.

Please note that previous tactical team experience DOES NOT guarantee a position on the team

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS FOR MEDICAL SUPPORT TEAM (TACTICAL PARAMEDIC)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Paramedic certification from DSHS for a minimum of 3 years
    • Prior military/law enforcement may be considered for paramedic experience
  2. Fully credentialed at the tactical paramedic level for 1 year by Allegiance Mobile Health's Central Region Medical Director
  3. Able to pass all required physical fitness requirements
    • No team member will be exempt from physical fitness requirements or physical training participation
  4. Ability to work as a team member in incredibly stressful environments that include but are not limited to extended callouts, possible encounters with armed subjects, inclement weather, and mental and physical training scenarios
  5. No significant history of disciplinary or attendance issues with Allegiance Mobile Health
  6. Ability to pass the onboarding requirements performed by the law enforcement agency
  7. In good standing with Allegiance Mobile Health's clinical department.
  8. Attendance at designated training courses as determined by team leadership
    • These classes include, but are not limited to:
      • Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC)
      • Advanced protocol training with Medical Director as needed
      • Cadaver Lab as directed by Team Supervisor and/or Medical Director
      • SWAT Medic or TEMS Course
      • IBSC Tactical Paramedic- Certification (TP-C) Exam within 1 year of joining the team
      • ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800, 907
      • Critical Care Paramedic encouraged, but not require

9.Other duties as assigned

PYSCHOLOGICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Use good judgment and remain calm in high-stress situations.

· Maintain a positive attitude in the face of adversity.

· Have good interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.

· Function under situations of extreme fatigue due to little or no rest, extreme temperatures, and inclement weather conditions.

Physical Requirements:

· Lift, carry, balance and push up to 125 pounds (250 pounds with assistance).

· Demonstrate flexibility and physical coordination by bending from the waist and touching toes, squat with legs parallel to the ground, and kneeling with both knees firmly on the ground.

· Repetitive lifting, squatting, stooping and kneeling.

· Climb 20 sets of stairs without rest within 60 seconds.

· Demonstrate fine manual dexterity by performing job-related clinical skills (starting IV's, intubating, etc.).

· Have correctable vision adequate to read street signs, see in low light and read the small print.

· Must be able to pass and maintain physical fitness test requirements –

o "Cooper Straight Cut-Standards"

  • Push up test – 25 or more
  • Sit up test – 29 or more
  • 300 meter sprint < 1 min 11 sec
  • 1.5 mile run <16 min 28 sec

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· High school graduate or GED

· Prior or Current certification as an EMT Basic or higher in the State of Texas

· Minimum of 2 years prior experience recruiting high volume E

Criminal Background Checks

  • Due to the sensitive nature of law enforcement involvement and to help maintain operational security, interested candidates must meet the following criminal background requirements:
    • No previous felony convictions
    • No misdemeanor class A or B convictions within the past ten (10) years
    • Must not be under any type of court ordered supervision such as probation or parole
    • Must not be the subject of any type of protective orders
    • Must not be currently under investigation for any felony offense or under felony indictment
    • No previous family violence convictions
    • Must be able to lawfully possess a firearm as allowed by state and federal law
  • Team members are not required to possess firearms, but must be in a position where they can lawfully possess one, if necessary
  • Any interested candidate or current member who becomes the subject of a criminal investigation, at any level, is required report that information to the team supervisor, on-duty supervisor and/or district chief within 24 hours. This includes any level of citation or arrest. Failure to do so may result in removal from the team.
