The Opportunity

As a Software Developer, CRM at Brkthru, you support and enhance key systems within our technology ecosystem, including Bravo (our custom React application), WordPress web properties, internal tools, and Zoho CRM environment.

This role exists to ensure the stability, scalability, and continuous improvement of the systems that power Brkthru’s internal operations and client delivery. Serving as the subject matter expert for our CRM platform (Zoho), the Software Developer, CRM translates evolving business needs into sustainable technical solutions, recommends system improvements, and executes enhancements that strengthen data integrity and system reliability in alignment with business and technical leadership.


This is a hands-on development role requiring strong technical judgment and autonomy in execution. You will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and contribute to multiple concurrent initiatives, ensuring reliable and high-quality delivery.


Responsibilities:

System Ownership

  • Own the ongoing reliability and performance of the Zoho CRM environment, serving as the subject matter expert while aligning long-term architectural changes with business and technical leadership.
  • Maintain and enhance Bravo (React), WordPress properties, and internal tooling to support business objectives
  • Identify and implement system improvements that increase reliability, usability, and scalability
  • Ensure thorough documentation of environment and processes

Architecture & Technical Execution

  • Lead CRM refactoring efforts to support evolving data structures, reporting needs, and automation workflows, aligning major structural changes with business and technical leadership
  • Design and implement integrations across systems using APIs and cloud infrastructure
  • Ensure code quality, documentation, and maintainability best practices are consistently applied.

Project Delivery & Cross-Functional Execution

  • Execute technical initiatives from scoping through deployment, proactively communicating timelines, risks, and dependencies.
  • Manage development workstreams in Jira, maintaining visibility across stakeholders
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure successful delivery of concurrent initiatives

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to leverage automation, AI tooling, and emerging technologies to improve team efficiency
  • Proactively surface system risks, technical debt, and architectural gaps, recommending practical solutions and escalating concerns.
Requirements:

Experience

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of experience working within CRM (Zoho preferred) or other complex business systems
  • Experience owning or significantly contributing to production systems
  • Experience working in fast-paced, cross-functional environments

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in React, TypeScript, HTML/CSS
  • Strong backend development experience (Python preferred)
  • Experience working with REST APIs and JSON-based integrations
  • Solid SQL skills (PostgreSQL preferred)
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred; GCP or Azure acceptable)
  • Familiarity with version control and CI/CD workflows

Project & Collaboration Skills

  • Experience managing technical work within Jira or similar tools
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with minimal oversight
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

  • 7+ years of professional software development experience
  • Experience with Zoho CRM, Snowflake, Anthropic/LLM tooling, Marketo, HubSpot or other marketing automation platforms
  • WordPress development experience
  • Experience with Snowflake or modern data platforms
  • Familiarity with marketing automation tools
  • Experience integrating or leveraging LLM/AI tooling
  • Experience working in startup, agency, or small-to-mid-size team environments with evolving systems and shifting priorities

Travel/Onsite/Location Requirements:

  • Brkthru operates as a remote-first company with occasional mandatory travel for training and offsites, provided with advance notice. We uphold the expectation that all team members maintain a dedicated and reliable workspace, free from distractions, to ensure optimal productivity.
  • This role requires travel 2-3 times per year for our Bi-Annual All Company Offsites and internal team trainings/meetings. Travel instances are typically 3-5 days at a time.
  • Candidates for this role are required to be based in or near a Brkthru hiring hub. Key hiring locations for this position include (but are not necessarily limited to): Detroit, MI; Philadelphia, PA; Austin, TX; Raleigh, NC.
