Mobile Sawmill
Utility
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Summary: Cleaning of all debris, including trash, wood chips, bark, boards and log rounds from around the plant site. Will require walking and standing for over 90% of the day with exposure to outside weather conditions. Work will be assigned throughout the week as well as the weekend as well.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties and responsibilities include the following, along with any others that may be assigned by the direct supervisor:
- Cleaning of debris from around the plant site.
- Pushing or pulling material from around conveyers and machinery
- Using compressed air to blow down around machine centers and work sites.
- Shoveling and/or lifting material from 5 to 30 lbs. into bins for removal.
- Walking and standing for most of the work shift not including breaks and lunch and time not being used to clean
- Required use of PPE including hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs and steel toe boots
- Climbing on railcars hooking cables to prepare for tying down packs of lumber
Physical Demands of the Position:
- Standing, walking
- Using hands, requiring gloves, to touch wooden materials or tools
- Reaching, pulling, or pushing with hands and arms
- Climbing in/out of Dump Trucks requiring 3-Points of contact
- Climbing stairs when going into/out of the Sawmill
- Stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling (on an as needed basis)
- Lifting and/or moving from 5 to 50 lbs. on an intermittent basis and lifting and/or moving from 5 to 50 lbs., as needed.
Work Environment:
- Walking past/around moving mechanical parts while going into/out of the Sawmill for Saw Changes or Clean-up
- Outdoor weather conditions including both hot and cold
- Vibration when walking around inside the Sawmill
- Loud noise level when inside Sawmill requiring use of ear plugs or muffs
