Job description

Description
The purpose of this position is to finish and package printed products, along with the production of direct mail products. This requires the set-up and assembly of single and/or multiple components into a final product, either manually or by operating the following bindery/finishing/mailing equipment:
60-inch pressure sensitive/heat laminator, shrink-wrapper, 30-inch cutter, padding racks, rubberstamp assembly, three-hole drill, spiral punch & binder, tab laminator & cutter, stitcher, box maker, table-top folder, table-top laminator, high-speed punch, and industrial sewing machine, plus the following technically advanced bindery/finishing/mailing equipment:
30-inch folder, 40-bin collator, 6-pocket and 12- pocket inserters, 6-pocket saddle-binder, ink jet addressing/tabbing machine, and double-sided heat laminator.
A Printing Services Advance Equip Operator typically is ....
  • Responsible for the accurate reading and comprehension of written job specifications. Job specifications provide the production details of each job/finished product.
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient set-up and complete operation of all equipment.
  • Responsible for the set-up and manual assembly of single and/or multiple components into a final kitted product.
  • Responsible for the correct packaging, correct labeling, and safe palletizing of final products.
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operator maintenance and cleanliness of all the equipment (and their respective work areas).
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate accounting and reporting of production time and materials, via shop-floor data collection terminals.

Other Compensation Information
Night differential: A $.75 per hour night differential is paid to associates regularly scheduled to work any hours between midnight and 3:00 a.m. (this does not include shifts that end at midnight or begin at 3:00 a.m.)
Year End Bonus
To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week's pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks' pay.
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Mechanical skills and abilities
  • Basic math and measurement knowledge
  • Basic volume and weight knowledge
  • Physical abilities, including: the lifting of up to 70 pounds, extended walking/standing (up to 14 hours/day), bending, squatting, working in a prone position (during some troubleshooting and when performing some maintenance)
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Adaptability and versatility (change) skills
  • Incumbent must be willing and able to work variable work schedules when and as required by the work load, which may include weekend and/or holiday hours

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bindery trade school training/diploma
  • Three years of trade bindery work experience, including two-years of technically advanced bindery equipment operation
  • General Publix and Printing Services' policies and procedures
  • General printing knowledge
  • Knowledge of chain-of-custody processes and procedures
  • Advanced mail processes and postal regulations
  • Publix and Printing Services job and code numbering systems
  • Shipping and distribution of both internal and external systems
  • Shop Floor Data Collection
  • Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
