Job description

About us:
Be a part of something new and help build something special from the ground up.
We are curating a team for a dual-concept restaurant opening in Omaha. “Nuova Elkhorn” Restaurants, La Vita Nuova and Alta 1897, stand as two expressions of a shared philosophy: We believe that quality is more important than quantity, hospitality should be genuine, and our craftsmanship reflects our respect for local agriculture and seasonality. La Vita Nuova is a neighborhood restaurant, featuring seasonally and daily changing Italian cuisine with classic pasta and wood-oven pizza, while Alta 1897 offers chef-curated multi-course tasting experiences, in an elegant and intimate dining room. Both concepts source heavily from local growers and showcase wineries that share our dedication to responsible and ethical agriculture.
We hold ourselves to a high standard where teamwork, collaboration, and attention to detail are not optional — they are essential. Details matter. Integrity is expected. The Standard is the Standard. This is who we are.
About the Pastry Chef role:
We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and motivated individual to help lead our pastry program. The right candidate is passionate about pastry arts and eager to take ownership of a creative/dynamic menu. You’ll lead the Pastry Team in all operations and communicate goals for the kitchen as a piece of the overall vision for the restaurant. The Pastry team assists with designing a full-service dessert menu, composed desserts, and handmade ice creams and sorbets. As one of the leaders of our culinary team, you will also assist with enforcement of health and safety standards in the kitchen, walk ins, and dry storage.
Demonstrating the ability to work as part of our team is just as important as the other skills you bring to the restaurant. You’ll need a strong desire to continue learning and to take a leadership role in staff education and development. Motivating and mentoring the culinary team is a daily duty.
What you’ll do:
Create and evolve dessert menus seasonally
Oversee creativity and prepare all desserts
Prepare and serve items in accordance with restaurant standards
Work closely with chefs to ensure correct preparation and delivery times are kept, and food quality is maintained.
Collaborate with teammates to execute dishes and the highest possible quality
Lead organization and management of the kitchen and food inventory
Adapt to changing needs during service
Present a clean and professional appearance
Maintain a calm, courteous, and professional demeanor at all times
Ensure that guests have a positive and memorable experience
Qualifications:
At least 2 year experience in a full service pastry program as pastry chef
Culinary degree preferred
Available to work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends
Strong Understanding of Health and Safety Standards
Ability to move and lift 30 pounds at a time
Must be able to stand and walk for an extended period
Required Skills:
Great attitude and high regard for upholding standards
Ability to work clean, organized, and as part of our team
Ability to communicate effectively and embrace feedback
Ability to work under pressure
Time management skills and strong ability to prioritize tasks to ensure smooth service
Self motivated and eager to continue learning and growing
