Job description
The Part-Time Pitching Coach will support the head coach and coaching staff in the development and training of pitchers within the college softball program. This individual will bring specialized knowledge and experience to help athletes develop technically, tactically, and mentally. The role is part-time, typically requiring flexible hours including evenings and weekends during the season.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Pitcher Development
- Design and implement progressive pitching workouts and development plans.
- Conduct individual and group pitching sessions focused on mechanics, strategy, and mental approach.
- Monitor and analyze pitching performance using video or data analytics tools
Practice & Game Support
- Attend and contribute to practices, scrimmages, and games.
- Work closely with catchers and other staff to ensure bullpen efficiency.
- Assist in pitch calling and game-day strategies as directed by the head coach.
Recruitment & Evaluation
- Assist in identifying and evaluating potential pitching recruits.
- Provide input on the recruitment of pitchers in line with program goals.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all coaching activities comply with college, conference, and NAIA rules and regulations.
- Promote a safe and inclusive environment for all student-athletes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience coaching or playing as a pitcher at the collegiate level.
- Knowledge of softball pitching mechanics, injury prevention, and performance enhancement.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Regular evening and weekend hours required.
- Physical demands include lifting equipment, standing for long periods, and demonstrating athletic techniques.
